Chatter

Introduction

Chatter is a way of holding real-time conversations with other members of your church or ministry.  This document explains how to use chatter and create chatter zones for groups in your church.

Creating a Chatter Zone

Every chatter “zone” belongs in one of the groups of your church (in much the same way as a forum); while you will probably have a general “church chat” zone in which anyone can participate, you may also have some chatter zones dedicated to specific groups such as youth, students or the football team.  Access to these zones may be restricted to members of the group to provide a private area for discussion.

In order to create a chatter zone you will need the forums and chatter permission for your group.

To create a new chatter zone:

  1. If you haven’t logged into the web site already, do so now.  Click the Login link at the top of the home page and enter the login name and password as supplied.
  2. Once you have successfully logged in click the web office link at the time of the home page.  The Web Office will be displayed shortly afterwards.
  3. Click on the group folder where you would like to create your chatter zone.
  4. Open the chatter view by clicking on the chatter tab in the work pane.
  5. Click on the Add a chatter zone to the groupname group task link.
  6. Enter the following information about your chatter zone:
