Server Updates :: 10am CST
At just prior to 6am GMT this morning the Insight web application became unavailable in Europe (not the US). This was the consequence of a malicious attack on the system which underlies the Insight platform.
We certainly aren't alone as a target - the same attack has affected over 3 million web pages around the world (including a number of high profile sites belonging to the UK Government and the United Nations).
We were able to discover the source and method of the attack (which was designed to disable the web server) and can say with confidence that no database data was accessed or compromised. We have now put measures in place to ensure that a similar attack will be unsuccessful in future. You can read about SQL Injection Attacks here.
We took the unusual step of taking the UK sites offline while we put new security measures in place. Although we appreciate this was inconvenient for our customers we felt it was a necessary precaution as a successful intrusion could have caused site visitors to be re-directed to malware web-sites. All development staff were assigned to ensuring that the outage time was minimised as far as possible.

How Does this affect the US?
As a result we noticed that there'd been the beginnings of similar attempts on the US server. We'd triggered a release for this morning already and were intending to check things over in the UK before we rolled it out to the US (this is our standard protocol) - as it is we've had to make the release immediately to make the same security updates on the US server. As a result the new Media XML is not quite behaving and Slideshow pro movies aren't currently feeding correctly. Very few of you are using SlideShow Pro, so this shouldn't be an issue. In addition. we are having to do a bit of cleaning on some Payment Groups at the moment, and thus from time to time you may see the system hang. Please know that we are aware of this.
