Release Notes - 25th June 2008
Here are the latest enhancements to the ChurchInsight system. As always if you've got any questions about these changes then don't hesitate to contact us.
Store Enhancements
Store Search Engine friendly URLs
Search friendly URLs are now generated for pages in the Store, enabling specific items or Store categories to be better indexed by Internet Search engines like Google. This will increase your product position in an Internet search engine results, when a search is made for a particular product that contains keywords that match item or category titles in your Store.
The search friendly urls appear by default and can be configured through the 'URL Redirection' page of the Web Office Settings.
We plan to add these search friendly URL's to all areas of your site in the future.
New Store query tasks
Tasks been added to the Store order query results page to allow easy movement between order and order line results. This enables, for example, the specific order lines to be exported for a series of orders.
Configurable Store Trolley title
The naming of the Shopping cart can now be configured in the Store settings area. This is set to 'Cart' in the US by default but can now be changed to something else e.g.basket.
Full upgrade of Store order summary displays
The Store checkout display has been enhanced to include more detailed information on Tax charges.
Delivery pricing: type specific price to include OR combinations
Option for "type-specific" delivery bands can now include more than one item type. For example, you could create a type specific delivery band to charge $2 for delivery of all items of type - "CD's OR DVD's". This means a combined basket of these items would be charged $2. Previously type specific bands had to be added for each item type meaning in this scenario the delivery charge would have been $4 (2x$2).
Other Store enhancements
- Enhancements to speed up the browsing of Store orders.
- Option added to exclude item notes from the Store search.
- Customisable 'Buy' and 'Add to Wishlist' buttons added to these components in Store Layouts.
- Mini-layouts now can be applied to the 'also bought' and 'related item' components.
- Extra display options added to the 'Price' component.
- 'Short Description' component now has a truncate option to enable a maximum length of item descriptions to be displayed.
- Option to add a 'My wishlists' button to the wishlist module that takes the user directly to their 'My Wishlists' area.
- Option to hide item note label on Store items.
- A Store item now displays 'Write the first review or comment' it hasn't been reviewed yet.
- Vertical or horizontal options added to the 'Write a review' text on the Rating Component, enabling better display of the Rating component when in a confined space.
- Improved styling on Store category navigation components.
- Fix to Store only users breaking the finance reports.
- Australian Tax display now region specific.
- Fulfilment item bugs fixed.
- Ok button fixed in IE on Store item thumbnail component
General enhancements/fixes
Customizable 404 page error
When a url is entered that contains your domain name but is invalid, e.g.when the user has mistyped the page url, a 404 message is displayed. This message has been changed to show an appropriate message and redirect users to your site homepage. To see the new message type in your domain name + '/' + random text e.g.churchinsight.com/anything. This message can also be customised within the new 'URL Redirection' area of the Web Office Settings to display your own message.
Redirect from system pages
The page the user is redirected to can now be specified for the 'Registration page', 'Audio/Video' homepage and when the user 'logs out' of the site. This can be configured within the Web Office settings->General->System Page Redirects.
The logout redirect can be overridden through the status bar settings of any layout. This allows you to specify different pages to be displayed when the user logs out from different areas of your site.
Various Theme style changes including:
Additional border style options of: none and hidden have been added to the theme editor
Group note styling added under Contents->Text->Group Notes
Styling options added to login box
Other enhancements
- Tidied up organization records interfaces on the user-side and in the web office.
- More details group link on organizations now prompts you to save when moving away from the page, helping to not lose any unsaved change to that field.
- Login name added to mail merge field options.
- .mov files now retain their .mov extension, instead of being renamed as .qt files, meaning they will now be downloaded when the RSS feed is subscribed to from itunes.
- Extended the size of the HTML advanced edit box on the article component.
