Release Notes - 26th September 2008
Here's the latest enhancements to the Insight system. As always if you've got any questions about these changes then don't hesitate to contact us.
Standards Compliance
This release marks the start of a massive program of technical improvements to the Insight platform aimed at enhancing standards compliance and allowing us to take advantage of new web technologies. Although you won't see the effect of this work immediately, rest assured it's working towards some pretty cool features in future :-)
General Enhancements and bug fixes
Directory 'Where's my nearest' Search
The "where's my nearest?" tool now allows you to see a full set of matches (instead of the closest 10) and automatically zooms the map to encompass those organizations. If you'd like to see this in action check out Alpha USA and enter a zip code like 64137.
Drop-down Navigation Menu - Root Group Configuration
The root group for the drop-down menu component can now be configured. This means sub-sites (areas of your site that you wish to have their own identity separate from the main site) can now use this feature to make the drop-down menu specific to them.
Mail merge Phone number display
Telephone numbers can now be added to the contents of a Mail Merge mailing.
Correspondence preference default set to email
The preferred correspondence method is now always set to 'email' by default. Previously we only defaulted to email when the user successfully logged in for the first time.
Site Manager Group Tree enhancement
The folder navigation in the left-hand pane of the Web Office has been optimized for much faster loading.
Search Engine Friendly url's Improved Efficiency
The storing of search engine friendly URL's has been made more efficient to improve performance.
Forwarding Email Fix
Minor tweak to the "forward this email" task in the mailing area to prevent occasional failures.
Registration Approval Fix
Approving registrations has been enhanced to prevent involvement and membership settings being occasionally lost in Internet Explorer.
Images Cache
Images now only cache if images are loading correctly. This means if images are failing to load then a correct cached version should still be available.
Theme Drop-down Item Styling Improved
Drop-down item highlight/disabled/separator styles now correctly overrides the parent styling. This enables different highlight text colors etc to be applied on the drop-down menus.
Sign-up Sheet Regionalization
Sign-up sheets now reflect the time and date format of your site regionalization.
Form Responses Time Stamp
Time stamp on article form response is now site time-zone specific.
Organization Profile Title Extended
The organization title has been extended to a maximum of 150 characters and the field where you enter this information will prevent you from entering a title which is too long.
User Merge
Improvements to reliability of the user record merge tool.
Media XML feed enhancements
Media XML feeds now respect the media item's security settings correctly.
Payment group enhancements
Many changes have been added to make administration of payment groups simpler. For those churches who are using the Payment Group system for online donations and event booking we'll be providing an article which explains these changes in more detail. However the headline changes are:
Auto-Suspension Options
Payment group administrators can now set up different suspension rules to enable the system to automatically suspend a registration based on certain criteria (for example, this might be once money has been owed for more than 30 days). Automatic suspension can also be activated for any payment card failure.
Default Cancellation Payment Options
These options allow administrators to configure how they wish current and future receivables to be dealt with when a registration is canceled.
Registration Cancellation Task
Payment group administrators can now cancel specific registrations from within the Web Office.
Clearer Display of How Payments Will Be Taken
New icons on the receivables display indicate if the payment will be automatically collected or if it requires manual intervention. Note this does not replace the ‘received’ ‘not received’ text which is still used to indicate if the payment was taken successfully.
New Registration Status Log
This new tab on a registration record displays a complete audit history. It can display when the record was created, approved, edited, suspended, cancelled (and by whom).
Payment Scheme interface improvement
Changes have been made to the "Payment Scheme" interface to make it easier to view and edit multiple payment schemes and to make it consistent with other areas of the system.
Re-design of Credit Card Pop Up Window
We've given the credit card pop-up window a complete overhaul to make it much clearer and simpler to use.
Re-authorization of Payment Cards
Card authorizations that are older than a year now need to be re-validated.
Edited Registrations and New Receivables Collection
Edited registrations that created new receivables that were due immediately were previously taken immediately. A 24 hour grace period has now been added on this receivable type so the administrator has time to reassign receipts before the automatic payment is taken.
Store Enhancements
Store page titles format improved
Store page titles have been changed to be consistent with the group/articles format i.e. <sitename:> <shop category> or <item name>.
Type specific delivery pricing combination options added
Specific delivery pricing can be set up on particular types of products e.g. DVD's. Previously each of these individual type-specific delivery costs were added together to produce the final delivery cost. In this new release we now have four options:
- Summing together (the default)
- Highest value
- Lowest value
- Average value
For example if you had a type-specific delivery charge of $1 for CD's and DVD's and a type-specific delivery charge of $1.50 for all books then with a mixed basket you could now opt to charge the highest value i.e. $1.50 to be the final delivery cost.
Increased store search efficiency
The store search has been enhanced to produce a more robust store search.
Apostrophe's in Store Item Titles handled better
Apostrophes in store item titles are now displayed correctly in emails and printable invoices.
Card Transaction Report Cut-Off Time Options
The card transaction financial report now includes a cut-off time drop-down so the time period required can be selected.
Store Search component Mini-Layouts
Mini-layouts can be added to the store search results component. This enables you to configure the search results to be displayed in the same way as your item list.
Store Layout Component Previews
When editing a store layout the store component the "preview" option now displays correctly.
Store Item Secondary Category Display
Store items which are listed as part of a related category are now displayed even when the primary category is hidden.

New SMS Emergency Number
While we are available in the US via Live Chat, email, Skype and phone, we also provide an SMS number that can be used in case of emergency. The number has been updated to 417-209-0487. This number can be used at any time.
